Find the RIGHT fireplace for your home

It wasn’t long ago that there was only one option for a fireplace – wood. But now the choices include gas, propane, gel fuel, and electric fireplaces. Each option, including wood, has its own benefits that should be considered carefully when adding or replacing a fireplace. If you’re loyal to a wood burning fireplace, make sure to read our tips HERE

Gas: For those of us who enjoy the beauty and warmth of a fire more than the mess that comes with wood burning fireplaces, the gas fireplace is becoming a popular option. The wood fireplace requires a functioning chimney, which can often mean costly repairs and maintenance to ensure they work properly and safely. Old chimneys can also be very energy inefficient by allowing warm air to escape from your home when they’re not running a fire – and though adding new insulation can save energy, in some homes the fireplace may need to be rebuilt, which is messy, time consuming, and expensive – leading the home owner to question if it’s really worth the effort.

A gas fireplace is a cost-effective alternative – they can be inserted in place of an existing wood fireplace and only require a galvanized steel pipe, which can be run through an existing chimney for a fraction of the cost of rebuilding one. Modern gas fireplaces offer the same cozy warmth (and often more) of a wood fireplace, and industry innovation has led to realistic looking flames. Additionally, gas fireplaces can be automated with wireless fireplace remotes that can control the temperature in addition to turning them on and off. If you neighborhood doesn’t have natural gas you still have the option of propane.

Electric & Gel Fuel fireplaces: If you don’t have an existing chimney or ventilation pipe and don’t want to install one in your home – an electric or gel fuel fireplace might be the right choice for you. Both gel fuel fireplaces and electric fireplaces can be installed virtually anywhere in a home and don’t need ventilation because they do not produce smoke.

The primary advantage of gel fuel has over electric fireplaces is that they’ll still function in the event of power-out, providing your family with warmth and light as they require no electricity. On the other hand, an Electric Fireplace will never run out of fuel as all it needs is a standard 110 volt electrical outlet whereas gel fuel fireplaces require you to keep your home stocked with fuel. iBuy Wood Stoves carries all gel fuels and pellets necessary to keep your fireplace running all through the fall, winter, and early spring! Turn Your Patio or Backyard into Comfortable Living Space

For a lot of us here at iBuy Wood Stoves, some of our most cherished memories are those we have from gathering around a fire with friends and family on a chilly evening, warming ourselves while roasting marshmallows and sharing stories late into the night. For those who live in more temperate climates than New York, an outdoor fire pit or chiminea can even be enjoyed into the winter (or for its entirety if you’re especially well located). A Chiminea or a Fire Pit is a great option for anyone who wants to enjoy the warmth and comfort of a fire on their patio or in their backyard. By complementing your chiminea or fire pit with a select few pieces of outdoor furniture you can create an outdoor living space you can safely enjoy every night!
Torches

The convenience and versatility of alcohol based gel fuels means that you can enjoy the beauty of fire safely almost anywhere in and outside of your home. Our selection of patio and Personal Torches make perfect accents for decks, pools, patios, sun rooms, or anywhere you want to enjoy the warmth and beauty of a flame. Our Wall Torches make wonderful impressions on guests and add a little spark to your home decor.

For those of us who would like the beauty and warmth, without the mess that comes with wood-burning fireplaces, we are turning to a gas fireplace insert to help warm our rooms and add the charm of a fireplace. Many others may have found their chimney requires extensive repairs and don’t want the expense involved, but desire the feeling of an indoor fireplace. For them, a gas fireplace insert may help save money while still being functional. While a chimney for proper ventilation is still required, inserting a galvanized still pipe through the existing chimney will still be cheaper than removing the old one and having it rebuilt. Fireplace inserts that work on gas, pellets, liquid propane and gels are all available and affordable. So even if your neighborhood doesn’t have the availability of natural gas you can still take advantage of a fireplace insert. Stand-Alone units are also available.

There is nothing more relaxing than a night by a cozy warm fireplace. Weather it's wood, gas or electric there are many models to choose from. Surely an investment you can count on, a fireplace will change not only the room but also the mood.
